Mother's Day at Swan Bay

Looking for something different to do this Mother’s Day? Have a beer, grill a steak, and celebrate the great outdoors. Weekend trips to the lake aren’t just for dad, and as a special surprise for mom, treat her like the nature-loving outdoorswoman she is. For a weekend adventure featuring beautiful scenery and fun activities head to the welcoming cabins and comfy RV site Swan Bay

Try an energetic hike at the nearby Paris Landing State Park located just five minutes away. Hikers of all ability levels can tackle three trails ranging from easy to moderate, including Healthy Hike Trail, a paved, accessible one-mile stroll. Families can download the offline trail map and use their GPS to pinpoint their exact location in the woods.

Take mom out on a kayak or canoe and explore our area’s scenic wooded banks and water ways. Canoe and kayak rentals are available at Paris Landing State Park swim beach or local vendors. Access points in Land Between the Lakes (LBL) are available online here and are a wonderful, lazy way to enjoy the great outdoors with mom. Have a boat? Need to rent one? Check with us.

Knowledgeable rangers at the TN National Wildlife Refuge can help the whole family experience the joys of birding. Bird watching is enjoyed throughout local parks, but the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, only twenty minutes away, offers a birding checklist and map of the refuge, trails and overlook. Look for osprey nesting and keep an eye to the sky for eagle nests and great blue herons.

Another Mother’s Day activity fun for everyone -fishing! Try wetting your line at LBL, only fifteen miles from Swan Bay. Reel in local bass, sauger, catfish, and bluegill, then make use of the Paris Landing State Park Marina’s fish-cleaning station.

With a stringer of fish in hand, head back to the Grill Master Station (name in the works) or fire pit to grill up the catches for mom or take them to your cabin for dad to cook in the full-sized kitchen. Relax with a beer and watch the sun set on a beautiful day in the outdoors with mom. When it’s time to reconnect with the modern-day world, wash off the wilderness inside your cabin. Kick back for a little TV while sharing your pictures to the Swan Bay Instagram page on the cabin’s free internet.
